Thanks for that report JB, I've had a set of those for about a year thinking
to do the same......I'll try leaving one plug in and see how I like it.....

Subject: Mufflers
I was at a recent swap meet and picked up some stock harlie take-offs that looked brand new for $5 a piece. These are the huge long mufflers that go on the dressers, one on each side of the bike with like the 3" i.d. outlet. Well, I already have machined spacers on my Eldo headpipes to accept the 1 3/4" i.d. inlet so I tried a set on it. Very mellow and quiet without seeming restrictive. These mufflers have two pressed in plugs per muffler that make the exhaust go through the baffles. Remove both plugs and the bike is very loud under load. Sounds good but could annoy people. Remove just one plug, I did the plug on the outlet side, and it sounds just right. Good and throaty but not annoying. Going down the highway at 60mph, the exhaust is slightly audible over the rest of the noises.
