Hi Charlie,
My little sheet doesn't list a torque spec for this. Neither could I
find one in Guzziology or the Chilton book. I jumped over to the Moto
Guzzi Shop
(http://www.motoguzzishop.com/Big_Daddy/Big_Daddys_Workshop.htm) and
found that Big Daddy recommends no more than 15 foot pounds. That seems
more reasonable to me, especially because this is just a "sealing"
location.
AJ, you might just want to get a new washer. I think steel washers were
originally used??? But I don't see anything wrong with using an aluminum
crush washer in this spot. Anyone else care to chime in?

I'm with Matt on this one. If the plug over the top (12 o'clock position) nut (the one that you tightened with the 10mm allen wrench) isn't tight or the crush washer doesn't seal well, oil will run down a "tunnel" cast into the head and drip out just where you describe. With the tank in place it's kind of hard to get a good look at it, you could probably hold a mirror between the tank and cylinder head to look down on/into it. Or just pull the valve cover and use a little sealer (such as Permatex 300) on the crush washer and plug threads then reinstall snugly (there's probably a torque figure on Greg's site). Clean the threads thoroughly before using the sealer. Cheers, AJ Huff wrote:
