Did the first couple of years I went. With tugs towing barges up and
down the river on the west side, the train coming through to the north
(not much of a problem now as it seems to be a local switcher only
working M-F daylight) and road traffic to the east of the site, I never
got much sleep. Something that's helpful to stay alive when riding!
That, and the shower facilities are (were?) inadequate at best (IMHO).
When I was younger all that didn't really matter, now that I'm no longer
immortal it does. A comfy bed and hot shower is worth the $$ and a short
ride. Plenty of opportunity to "rough it" at rallies with better
locations. If you're going to camp, get there early. The grounds aren't
all that large and with 600 or so people coming it could be a bit
crowded. Later,

Hi David, From the newsletter: Chester,WV - Mountaineer Resort & Lodge 800-489-8192 Andrews Inn Town Motel 304-387-2800 Weirton,WV - Holiday Inn 304-723-5522 Ameri-Host Inn 304-723-0050 Steubenville,OH - Super 8 800-800-8000 Holiday Inn 740-282-0901 Hampton Inn 800-426-7866 I'll be staying at the Super 8 myself. Stayed at the Inn Town 2 yrs. and was not impressed. One year got a room in the basement with three beds (one was too soft, one too hard, the other just right - why we nicknamed it the Goldielocks Room) no heat and very little hot water. Next year got one on the upper back - much better, but still only about a 1* rating. Used to be a great little B&B in Chester just off the main drag. Doting grandma type ran it, very clean, neat, quiet and comfy. Think the house it was in was supposed to be sold after my last stay there (2003?), but worth a check. Cheers, David Washburn wrote:
