I did exactly this on my 73 Eldo. The hose is really tough stuff and
the extra abrasion protection probably isn't necessary. When you run
the hose up to the dash, make sure to get it against, or as close as
possible to the steering pivot to minimize hose motion while turning. I
mounted a brass "T" at the back of the guage and a Buick sender so I had
both analog and idiot light.

I was able to get it pretty straight by dipping it in boiling water (as per the instructions that came with the kit). Worked like a charm. I'm contemplating running the plastic hose inside a length of rubber vacuum hose from the engine block up to the gauge in order to afford the line greater protection. Any thoughts on this or related suggestions?
