Thanks, Ron. I had been thinking about a back-up in case of leakage, but
I had not thought of your solution.

Greg, I've been running an oil pressure gage on my first Ambo & now my Eldo for almost 20 years, many many thousands of miles. The tiny plastic line has broken twice, once on each bike. Both times it was right at the point where it exits the fitting attached to the motor. My guess is that it's a matter of time/heat/vibration. Best bet would be to replace the line every 2 years. Also, look closely at the fitting in the kit, there are different kinds of compression & swages used, some are kinder to the line than others. You want the part that is squeezed onto the plastic line to have no sharp edges, a little work w/a needle file to round off the edges will help the line live. As a final precaution, I carry an extra fitting, w/ a short length of line swaged in & sealed off by melting it w/a flame. That way, if I ever break the line on the road, I can just screw on my plugged fitting on in place of the one w/the broken line & continue the trip. I modified a 1/8" T fitting so I can have a port for the pressure gage line & retain the idiot light. Ron Komoroski |
