This time of year the BRP traffic is not bad on weekdays. The section
between Cherokee & Asheville is the least traveled. Do avoid the Parkway on Memorial
Day weekend. A couple of sections north of Asheville, NC are still closed
from landslides last fall. Info on the closures can be found at:

I live in Asheville, NC, If your route takes you any where near here, I would
be glad to show you some of the local roads or meet up for a meal.
