Hi,
I might have to go with a thread chaser. I did clean the tubes up some
with a small brush and carb cleaner. They aren't as bad as I initially
thought. The upper bolts aren't in great shape though- I might have to
look for a couple of spares.
As far as where to put the pvc spacer- it HAS to go on top. 1 1/2" pvc
will not set flat on the castellated nut at the bottom of the spring
housing. It'll be obvious to anyone who tries it out.
On the up side- the Nolan-Field alternater is a snap to install with all
this stuff out of the way. 15 minutes tops. Nolan-Field just sounds
like a cool name to me....space age alternator goodness. mmmmm, carb
cleaner.....

Jason, I'm guessing that a die that size will be tricky to find. What about a small thread chaser. Of course a stiff brush and some good goop will also do wonders. Steel wool? Green scrubber pad? I'm thinking about putting the pvc spacers in my front end, also. I just put it together with new springs (Wirth progressives), seals, etc but it seems too easy to compress and bangs. And that's just sitting in the shop. I haven't ridden it yet. Ray pax sine tedio 73 Eldo "19" |
