Jason, I'm guessing that a die that size will be tricky to find. What
about a small thread chaser. Of course a stiff brush and some good goop
will also do wonders. Steel wool? Green scrubber pad?
I'm thinking about putting the pvc spacers in my front end, also. I just
put it together with new springs (Wirth progressives), seals, etc but it
seems too easy to compress and bangs. And that's just sitting in the
shop. I haven't ridden it yet.

After only a small amount of cursing I managed to the get the front end apart on my Eldo. It had/has the same clunking sound described by another member here. I plan to put a couple 1/2" spacers made out of PVC (1 1/2") to see if that helps. For those that have done this- did you put the spacer at the top or the bottom of the spring? I'm inclined to put it at the bottom in the 'cup' of the spring housing. Also- does anyone know what that fine thread size is on the upper fork tube? I want to clean up the threads on the fork and the nut. Thanks much, Jason |
