In Md, I took the MSF class on one of their 250 Rebels in a local community
college parking lot. After passing the MSF test, you could take the Md DMV
riding test as long as you had already passed the written exam. The test
was held on the lot next to the MSF lot using the same Rebel bikes. This
was nice to take the test on a small bike (and one you have experience with)
and not have to ride to the DMV lot somewhere out in the boonies.

I grandfathered in when I moved to Florida, as I already had an m/c
endorsement from Ohio, dating back to late 60's/early 70's when that
state began testing. They tested by engine displacement. There were
several categories, such as 125-350, etc.
My wife and I tested on my Suzuki 125, even though we both rode Harleys,
mine chopped. Never encountered any trouble with the law. I don't know
how they do it here in Florida, although typically if you pass the MSF,
that is your test and an endorsement is granted without further ado.
