I grandfathered in when I moved to Florida, as I already had an m/c
endorsement from Ohio, dating back to late 60's/early 70's when that
state began testing. They tested by engine displacement. There were
several categories, such as 125-350, etc.
My wife and I tested on my Suzuki 125, even though we both rode Harleys,
mine chopped. Never encountered any trouble with the law. I don't know
how they do it here in Florida, although typically if you pass the MSF,
that is your test and an endorsement is granted without further ado.

I say, take your motorcycle test on a scooter. You will pass the first

I'll add two cents here, at the risk of pissing off a few of you, but
here
in NJ taking a MV test for a license is done on a real tight
course....my
advise is to learn on a bike that you will use for your test. The test
will
go much easier with a light, bike with easy balance and steering and
sensitive braking. Going through 10 cones in a line, stopping sharply,
and
making a right turn within a 3 foot line are steps of the test all done
much
easier with a simple upright seating position on something like a Honda
350
or smaller.

When I took my test years ago, the fellow in front of me almost killed
the
MV Officer for failing him....he failed 3 times tryng to get his
Softtail
through the hose cones!! The officer saw me & my old restored Honda
CB360T
& said..."now this is the kind of bike to test on"!!

The Safety School is a great idea...I wish you many happy rides!
