You don't have Greg Field's "Moto Guzzi Big Twins"? Shame, shame! :-)
Seriously, it should be in every Guzzi nuts book collection. Lots of
great Loop history including information about this subject. Cheers,

Thanks Paul, another mystery solved. Bob |
Yes, factory used what ever motor they had handy at the time. Only later did they start putting in matched numbers. |
Paul, yes sir you are right, my mistake it is a V700 not Ambo but what do you think about the different numbers, did the factory ever do that? |
From: Custom Guzzi [mailto:paul-@comcast.net]
67-68 is correct. Should actually be a V700 as the Ambo didn't come out till late 68 early 69 and had a 5 digit VIN. From: Robert Hawkes [mailto:3haw-@bluefrog.biz] |
My friend Scott just bought an Ambassador that is registered as a 1968. The frame number reads 1787 and the engine number reads 1901. This obviously could be a swapped out engine but could it also be that it came from the factory this way? Also, could this really be a 1967?? Is Ian Adkins around, he may know something about this?? Thanks, Bob Hawkes |
