Gotcha, so in addition to working differently in different situations,
they also keep the spring from springing forever.

Completely undamped, in the absence of friction, your front wheel would
bounce forever after hitting a bump. The friction and fluid drag in
your drum forks damp out the bounce after a certain number of cycles.
Good dampers control and eliminate the bounce on the first cycle.
GFHi Rob,
Actually, I didn't even know that much. So, they work in conjunction
with one another, each handling different situations, interesting.

Greg,
You probably know this much but the basic difference is that the
FURTHER
you compress a spring the more it pushes back at you, The FASTER you
compress a damper the more it pushes back at you.

Okay, education time for me. Can you explain the differences - or at
least point me to a good resource to read - about spring, dampers,
etc?

Since you fellers are putting so much time into improving your
forks,
meebe you'd be interested in really improving them.
I'm working on a way to fit dampers to Loop drum forks. Might some
of
you also be interested?

Hi Ray,
Just the springs, no spacers.

Greg,
I also installed the Wirths on my Eldo but have yet to ride it,
so no
impressions. Did you use a preload piece as well or just the
springs?
