| Completely undamped, in the absence of friction, your front wheel would bounce forever after hitting a bump. The friction and fluid drag in your drum forks damp out the bounce after a certain number of cycles. Good dampers control and eliminate the bounce on the first cycle.

| Hi Rob,
Actually, I didn't even know that much. So, they work in conjunction with one another, each handling different situations, interesting.

| Greg, You probably know this much but the basic difference is that the FURTHER
you compress a spring the more it pushes back at you, The FASTER you compress a damper the more it pushes back at you. Rob

| Okay, education time for me. Can you explain the differences - or at least point me to a good resource to read - about spring, dampers, etc?

| Since you fellers are putting so much time into improving your forks, meebe you'd be interested in really improving them.
I'm working on a way to fit dampers to Loop drum forks. Might some of you also be interested?
