The first basic is, the Guzzi drum forks have no dampers. For all
practical purposes, they're just a set of springs holding the sliders
from bottoming on the tubes, kinda like old shocks that have lost most
of their oil.
Heavy oil in the forks adds some drag that mimics damping, and the
forcing cone at the bottom also is a crude form of damping. That's the
best you can do on these forks without adding some form of damping rods.
I'm working on a way to fit FAC sealed dampers inside. I'll have to
make some tooling and use it to modify each slider. I want to do this
on my V7 and A-series Ambo, but if others are interested, it might
prompt me to devote more time to the effort.
I shipped a bunch of alternator kits yesterday. Some of you will see
them soon.
