For whatever reason, I'm bound and determined to get my stock Ambo up to 100 MPH. I've got a Sigma Sport speedometer that is very accurate and records my maximum speed obtained. Coming across the Gandy Bridge the other morning I had her pegged nearly the whole way. She got up to 95 MPH and held there, but no further. I'm going to take off my fairing and give it another go one of these days. How fast have you taken your stock Ambassador (750, 4-speed, 8-35 rear end)? Last year on the MGCL list, Mr. Jesse Open mentioned that his Loop would
easily do 110. When I registered a gentle sort of incredulity, I was
well and properly blistered for my apostacy, viz. the following quote
from 7/06/05:
"In your own sneaky way you were indeed suggesting a lie .
The speedo needle really had nothing to do with the GPS reading .
You failed to ask just how "stock" Popeye was as well could be you were
in such a rush to find a sneaky way to pose the question that slipped
your mind .
It sounds like your hesitation to go beyond a "happy" sound from your
bike may indeed inhibit your own willingness to 'screw up the courage' .
In any event Popeye was blessed with a B10 cam and a pair of very well
detailed cylinder heads . The 110 was a very easy mark to make without
laying on the tank and my good friend, Tom Bowes has well seen it done.
I have stayed along side my good friend Mike LeBow on his 900SS Ducati
at speeds very near 110 (No we weren't RACING ) . I am not responsible
for whatever the limits of your imagination may be . It is easy, not at
all improbable to run an Eldo at a SOLID 110. The "loaded up" cruiser
was a pair of Wixoms with a weekend's worth of gear . I don't run
windshields ,but the windshield factor was part of the posting. Try to
figure where a 110 Eldo fits ,it sure doesn't fit you . And your LIAR
imference doesn't fit me my friend . As I am sure you will admit should
we ever meet."
NOW, you heard THAT, didn't you?? It's "easy", buck. A cam and a pair
of cojones and you're there.
I guess I better shut up and quit needlin' while I'm ahead, I'm
apparently already due to get a butt-kickin' at some rally somewhere,
don't want to add a monkey-stompin' to it......Peace, brother.
