Hi Andy,
Top notch triple plate chrome shops disappeared by large numbers when
the EPA cracked down long time ago. That means two things from my
experience: top notch chrome in states that have strict EPA laws are
very expensive and top notch chrome is available a bit cheaper in states
that don't monitor so closely.
I have been using this place in Melbourne, Florida:

The quality is just beautiful and these guys understand what to chrome
and what to mask off. They do business mainly with the custom car crowd.
Everything I've sent them, in the past years is gorgeous but expensive.
I do recommend them if you justify the price. I've managed on my meager
teacher salary (and I aint kidding, especially here in Florida) by
sending a few items at a time as I'm building the Eldo. I am not chrome
crazy but love the combo of chrome against gloss black. Just enough here
and there to make the contrast jump.
Admittedly, there isn't an issue here with extreme cold weather but
plenty of salt air and mongo humidity.
My bikes are not in an air conditioned garage. The parts I had chromed
on my G5 (even the aluminum)lasted many years and almost 100k miles with
no problems on the finish. I'm not a cleaning freak either. When I
notice excessive grunge (mostly love bug guts) or those little tiny
spots of rust, I clean. It works for me.
Have also heard good things about this place:

How's your project coming? Mine is slow for sure. But steady and looking
real fine. Maybe this year.
