Ian,
I'll keep that in mind about the grabbing when I take the Ambo clutch out, I haven't been able to try the new clutch on the Eldo out because of the carb issues we've been discussing, I replaced the friction plates (they were down to 6.8mm thickness) but the intermediate plates seemed fine. hopefully sorted out now, I'm going to try and take it out for a spin around the block today and see what happens. I'm in a dinky little town down in the SW corner of New Mexico called Silver City, about 70 mi to the Mexican border and far off the beaten path. Lest you envy me for my warm southern exposure I have to say it's 6000' up in the mountains and been raining and snowing for weeks. I've lived here 34 years and this is the wettest, cloudiest, dreariest, fall and winter we've had in all that time.
Hopefully I'll report this afternoon on whether the Eldo is on the road at last.
Steve

Steve...I really think that any kind of grabbing is due to a warped intermediate plate. The clutch plates are too think.
By the way...where are you located?

Ian,
when I went back over my info from re-clutching the Eldo I find that I used the bonded which were what MG recommended, their reasoning was that it was less likely to separate than the riveted and since I had the 2mm splines which transferred more shock to the plates bonded was probably better for me. I have only managed to drive it 3 blocks so far and push it home :( but the clutch didn't grab :) I should have it on the road soon and will report if any problems develop.
