Ian,
when I went back over my info from re-clutching the Eldo I find that I used the bonded which were what MG recommended, their reasoning was that it was less likely to separate than the riveted and since I had the 2mm splines which transferred more shock to the plates bonded was probably better for me. I have only managed to drive it 3 blocks so far and push it home :( but the clutch didn't grab :) I should have it on the road soon and will report if any problems develop.

Steve,
I have spent much time talking with Rick and Gordon on this issue because I went through a grabby clutch problem with my white Eldo a while back. After two engine pulls...and much consternation... I finally decided to go with new riveted clutch plates and intermediate plate. Hub was 4mm on this bike. After 1880 miles... no problem at all. I wish I had just switched the intermediate plate to see if the "nearly new" bonded plates previously on there worked but I had had enough of dealing with grabby clutches and didn't want to have to pull the engine yet again
I have also install 2mm riveted on my latest project "Baretta".
I know the talk on the riveted plates coming apart...and have seen ones that have done just that. Not pretty. However.....when looking at the way the teeth of the plates matched up with the teeth of the hub the riveted plates matched up better. Not sure if that would have anything to do with it....but as I said earlier...I was tired of pulling the engine.
So....I will let you all know what I find out down the road. Personally....I would prefer the sure flex bonded plates because I see more friction material on the pads, which, by the way, is the reason I think they fail.
Ride safe...Ian

As to the bonded or riveted, when I talked to the guys at MG they recommended 1 for clutches w/2mm splines, and the other for those with updated 4mm splines but can't remember which was which, I'm sure when you order they will let you know their opinion if you ask it.
