Ron, Patrick, Jim and John, Do you think the sleeves need to be honed out
more? Or maybe go down one ring size, if that is possible?? Just wondering
if the piston is not seating well and maybe it needs to be loosened up so it
is not running so hot.
Just a guess, Bob

John,
Years ago I installed a 900cc sleeved cylinder kit from a machine shop in
New York on my Ambo. The kit instructions warned about doing a long careful
break-in because the cylinders would run hot until broken in. In my case,
the right side ran so hot that the exhaust valve guide came loose, dumping
oil into the cylinder, belching clouds of smoke & scaring the s#$@ out of
me!
Sounds like yours is running hot & causing the valve to seize in the guide.
Take the head back to your friend who did the work & ask him to check it
out. Definitely get the carbs balanced & I'd even set them a little rich for
the first few thousand miles. Lets hope that no more serious damage has been
done.
