I thought I remember the shaft having a slot cut in it (but I'm
remembering this from my G5). Not sure why. I'm not talking about the
woodruff key slot- there was another slot on the end of the shaft (like
a screw head). Maybe its so you can turn the oil pump and see if it's
free?

Hi Ted,

All of the nuts that secure the timing gears are standard right-hand
threads. A impact wrench with a 26mm socket really helps. When
tightening, I just jambed a pry bar in the ring gear (after removing the

starter) and used a torque wrench to get it to the appropriate value. I
don't recall taking notice of a screw in the middle of the oil pump
gear. In fact, looking at my old oil pump gear, there aren't any screws
at all in it. Hope this helps.

Are all the timing gears regular threads? None of them are reverse are
they?
Want to make sure before I start trying to remove bolts. Also, what is
the
screw in the middle of the oil pump gear for?

Thanks again.
Ted
