Hi Ted,
All of the nuts that secure the timing gears are standard right-hand
threads. A impact wrench with a 26mm socket really helps. When
tightening, I just jambed a pry bar in the ring gear (after removing the
starter) and used a torque wrench to get it to the appropriate value. I
don't recall taking notice of a screw in the middle of the oil pump
gear. In fact, looking at my old oil pump gear, there aren't any screws
at all in it. Hope this helps.
