Greg,
I went with the internally threaded connecting rod (with round exterior,
not hex) to keep things cleaner. Looking at the selections now I assume
I used a (gasp) non-metric setup. Mines a little different anyway with
the Triple A floorboards.

Hi Ron Komoroski and Rob Prins, Just wanted to let you know that I ended up going with the Heim joints from McMaster-Carr. What an improvement! This took care of all of my freeplay. No drilling, just bolt on and go. Thanks! Here is a link to the Metric joints - I used item number 6275K33: http://www.mcmaster.com/nav/enter.asp?pagenum=1051 I couldn't find any metric connecting rod. So, for right now, I'm using stainless steel allthread. Eventually I'll get some rod and thread the ends.
