Thanks Ron and Steve,
Great idea Ron...I might have to do that. I also spoke with Mark E today
regarding this issue...he suggested just drilling out the holes to the
next larger size (inch or metric, whichever is closer) and then using
standard pins. I think I'll take this approach first, and then switch to
heim joints if it is still sloppy...I'll just have to see how motivated
I get :>
Mark also provided me with the info about the battery he suggests. It is
a Centennial 55-60 MF (sealed with 500 CCA). They don't have a dealer
anywhere close to Florida, but others may be interested.

Greg, drill out and replace w/ generic is what guzziology suggests. I really like Ron's solution for longevity though, if your not concerned with keeping things close to original. And I just wanted to echo the other comments about your web site. It is a real asset and one of the things that convinced me I could take these two old loops and get them running again. Essentially, the pins and holes have wallered out with time and use (and not enough lubrication). The end result is that there is a lot of free play in the linkage. Other than purchasing new linkage (which I assume is no longer available?), what is a good way to fix this problem? Would it be best to drill out the holes and replace with generic bushings and pins?
