Brett,
I considered drilling from the blind side, but I would have to go through the cavity the atomizer screws into, and am worried this might somehow affect it's operation. The trimming of the float sounds like a good option, especially in conjunction with the PB blaster and possibly the hot/cold treatment as well. Thanks to everyone for the advice. I'm off in search of blaster right now.

I had that same problem with both of carbs on Dreamcycle. Only one side of supports/hangers is drilled. I came up with two options: Drill the other side very carefully so that you can push is out with a small pin or 2.) this one I used...with a Dremel cutting disk, I shaved just a bit of the float and then into the pin so with a pointer I could push out the pin enough to grab with needle nose. This, of course, was after several drenchings with PB Blaster...good luck, and remember those aluminum supports are probably kinda easy to break! Brett in Indy
