Don't know if anyone else has ever run into this or not but...
Last year I noticed that when my LH cylinder was static timed to 10
degrees before TDC, my RH cylinder was a bit later. This year I finally
put a degree wheel on it and found I was off by 8 degrees. I split the
difference (LH 14 degrees before TDC, RH 6 degrees before TDC) until I
was able to get a new (to me) distributor.
The new distributor went in last weekend, the degree wheel tells me both
cylinders are timed the same. I notice some increase in power when I
wind it up, but mostly (duh) it's smoother. My wife agrees. I spoke to
a number of people who I consider to be experts and none of them had run
into that sort of thing, so maybe mine was the odd one.
So now I have a better running bike AND a distributor cam Christmas tree
ornament.
