You are going to have the disconnect them from the carbs. It's much
easier and will save you a lot of heartache if you damage something else
in the process.

I've disconnected the cable from the throttle and loosened the adjuster on the top of the barrel as much as possible. With the lower cables intact, I'm not able to pull the connector all the way out of the top of the barrel. I know the bottom of the barrel unscrews as well, but to do this I'd have to disassemble the lower halves, which is what I'm trying to avoid since I just rebuilt the carbs and put it all back together.
