Having just gone through this recently, I found several sources about
polarizing the generator. The best I found says first take the generator belt
off the bike. then make a jumper wire to run from D field to the frame. The
other step says to make a jumper and run it between the positive terminal and
the D+ terminal. Then the generator is supposed to spin like a starter. Dont't
spin it but a second so it won't overheat. I hope this helps, I haven't been
