Bob-
me, i leave it bare. the real enemy of gastanks is condensation, especially when the bike is stored for any length of time. some folks drain their tanks and carbs, but i've always topped it off with stabilized fuel [ i use stabil, avail. at napa]. as long as the tank's full, and the gas is treated, there's little chance of condensation. works for me.
my cb175-ss had that cream crap in the tank. it had seperated from the steel, and was a real pita to remove. i don't like it.

Bob-
what ya do is 1] remove petcocks and plug the holes] partly fill the tank with soapy hot water 2] drop a chunk of chain into the tank [some guys use nuts and bolts- a pita to remove them all] 3] shake vigoursly 4] remove the plugs, drain the crap out, and remove the chain [fish it out with a coathanger, if it doesn't fall out 5] rinse repeatly with clean hot water. a variation on this theme is to use a mild muratic acid for the cleaning agent [wear rubber gloves!]

I had a similar problem after using Cream Tank liner. It took it a year to develop. I had to clean the tank out, because the tank lining was coming loose and clogging the petcocks. I will never use thart stuff again! Greg
