Hi Bill,
A good sealer for any area that will be opened in regular maintenance is
Permatex 300 (also found as Aviation Permatex). It's a brown, brush on
goo usually sold in a small (4 oz.?) white bottle. NAPA has it. Use a
light coating on each surface, any excess can be removed with Varsol
(mineral spirits) or gasoline. I like it because it doesn't dry and it
will seal most imperfections on the sealing surfaces. Cheers,
Charlie
