In the late '70's I had a 63 Falcon. After mistakenly thinking the
regulator had gone bad I replaced it in the car. I had the old one laying
around when the regular went out on the Guzzi. I thought what the heck,
both vehicles use generators... What do I have to lose? I've still got it
in there 20 years later (of course I didn't ride it for about 15)... It
still works at this time.

Subject: Marelli regulator
I used the 63 Ford regulator on my 71 Ambo with the Marelli generator as suggested here and all was well for about 4000 miles. Now every now and then it seems like the contacts stick and won't charge unless I bypass it for a couple of seconds. Then it works fine for a few days. Has anyone else using the Ford regulator experience anything similar? It's cheap enough to just replace but I don't want to do this every 5000 miles. JB |
