Subject: Marelli regulator

I used the 63 Ford regulator on my 71 Ambo with the Marelli generator as
suggested here and all was well for about 4000 miles. Now every now and
then it seems like the contacts stick and won't charge unless I bypass
it for a couple of seconds. Then it works fine for a few days.
Has anyone else using the Ford regulator experience anything similar?
It's cheap enough to just replace but I don't want to do this every 5000
miles.
