I was getting a puddle the size of a coffee saucer whenever I stopped, from
my 69 Ambo, but after putting in CD-2 stop leak, I only get couple of
drops, about nickle size. I don't find it that serious, as she is over 30,
and has all her original seals. I get few little drops on my boots on long
rides, but nothing real messy.

Date: Tue, 14 May 2002 13:36:17 +0000 Good Morning Fellow Loopers, I am keeping an eye on the "oozing of character" on Patience, my 71 Ambo. I am still somewhat conecerned, but wanted to get a read from y'all. How much is too much oil to be dripping to the ground? My guess is she seems to drop about 3-5 drops per day of oil while she is sitting in the garage as I have a piece of cardboard under her and by the end of the day, the oil spot spreads out to about the size of a quarter to 1/2 dollar coin size. My concern is why the oil continues to be leaking out and through the mating surface of the engine/tranny casting - how much oil is actually sitting in there that she continues to drip oil? I guess it can't be that bad as oil is not leaking out of that little hole, so the oil isn't up to that level. Other concern is how bad she leaks while I ride, will oil pressure increase the leak? It seems it does as she is wet underneath after a ride, not terrible, but more than when she sits, perhaps the oil is just getting blown about. My concern with leaking while I ride is for the health of the clutch and the health of me - hate that the oil is dropping in front of the rear tire, doesn't make for sure footed traction!! Thoughts anyone? Similar situtations? Time to Ride or time to disassemble? Cam and I are planning on going to the National, perhaps one of our loopframe experts can tear her down, fix her, and re-assemble while we are there. Keith Ruff 71 Police Ambassador - NJ |
