Subject: Oil Leak Poll (was trans leak)

I've had all I's cans stands, and I can't stands no more!
Spent the day with my friend/neighbor Cam Conklin polising up the Ambo
and his 74 police Eldo. I put on a bunch of new parts and found I need
a few more. I did a closer examination of my oil leak, and what I
dreaded most seems to have taken place. After spraying off everything
underneath with some Gumount last eve, I put a piece of tape over that
little hole in the casing where the engine and trans cases meet, just in
front of the oil pan. The oil is leaking from just above the oil pan
where the engine and trans case meet, and when I pulled the tape off of
the little hole, some oil came out of it also. Based on what I've heard
and read during the past 1.75 years, this is NOT GOOD! The main seal
was replaced about a year ago/100 miles ago by the 1st mechanic, so I
can't imagine it being bad unless it was installed wrong. As for the
trans, it was all apart and nearly rebuilt, again, perhaps something
went wrong. My question is, how serious is this leak/should I be
worried? Some consolation came when I looked at Cam's Eldo and saw he
had the same leak, his casing is different, but the leak was from the
same "vent" type opening. So how many others have oil leaks like this?
I'm not ready to give my bike to a 3rd mechanic in less than 2 years,
I've only had this bike at home maybe a month during this ownership!
The never ending saga continues....... Can anybody give me some
advice/consolation/a case of beer to drown my miseries of ownership?

I bought a tube of permatex the other day and will try it out this weekend. I looked under the bike again last eve and it looks like the oil drain plug is weeping also. Can I use the permatex on it also? Might as well try it out and stop all of the leaks. I'm hoping this will cure the leaks, but I still have my eye on the oil drain pan gasket just above and in front of the oil drain plug, it's either weeping also or oil from the tranny drain plug is finding it's way down to that area and settling there. I hope the oil isn't coming from that little hole in the casing which may mean the main seal is leaking, which it better not be since it was replaced 1.5 years ago (less than 100 miles ago)!
