I have run them with and without. They do have morethan adequate contact
area. When I run relays it is to reduce the voltage drop along the wire
rather than to ease the load on the contacts usually when using high
wattage Halogen lighting. I like to keep things simple. On the loops
when using the rear turn sigs to augment the brake lights relays make
for an reasy conversion. I have found some incredibly small relays about
15 mm cubic that have sPsT contacts rated at 20 Amps. They are very easy
to incorporate . We have used them in numerous concept cars and as long
as they see no more than 20 amps they have been bulletproof. Above 20
amps and they might as well be a fuse ! The CEV electrics I refer to are
the pieces used on Loopframe Guzzis. I don't care for the later stuff a
whole lot but again the owner can be a major factor.
