Bob,

I guess you could also use the stuff you put in tool boxes to keep the tools
from sliding around.

Paul,
Good to hear this. Also, I want to try to find he rubber netting material
that is used under scatter rugs to keep them from slipping. I figure that
the net design will keep water from getting trapped between the metal
battery pan and the battery.

Bob,

That is what I had used. It works really well and holds down the battery
nice and tight. I used an old rubber battery tray I had for the base.

Zer,
OK, actually went to the auto store here and got a plastic thing that
is

 in
two pieces which makes it adjustable. It goes across the top of the
battery
and has the two holes you mentioned; and then I got some 8" j-hooks.
I'll

slap it on there sometime this week and then report back. I'm going
to

 try
to find some rubber mat thing to put under the battery to stop sliding
further - that's a good idea. thanks, Bob

Lol.
Actually it is a battery hold down thingy. It's just rubber and
stretches across the top of the battery with holes for the j hook
nuts.

Dunno what else to call it.

Zer,
Sorry to be tedious but when I go to Pep Boys do I ask for a "Rubber
Dog

Bone"?? What is it used for? Just so's I don't look like an idiot.
Thanks
Zer, Bob

 shucks/autozone/pep boys

there is a rubber dog bone deal that is about 5 bucks. get a set
of
 8"

 j
hooks (same store) I had to cut a bunch of a set of 10" j hooks.

hook the j's unber each side of the battey tray. then a couple
peices

 of
hard foam or similar to make sure the batt doesn't slide in case
of
 a

 tip
 over.

Other than buying a new hold down or if you don't have access to
welding
equipment it is the most elegant solution I have used.

Gentlemen,
Anyone have a battery hold down setup for sale for my 69 Ambo?
The

 tray
is

good and solid, I just need the frame at the top and the two
j-bars.

Or, does anyone have a tip on assembling something from an auto
parts

store? I am tired of holding the battery in with bungee cords -
it

 still

 slides around.

Thanks, Bob
