Ian,
One thing I recommend is if you are going to
compress the front forks and cinch down via
handlebars, be sure to decompress once a
day. I have heard that fork seals don't tolerate
long term compression. I unstrap and "relax"
the front or rear end at the end of the day when
traveling. It may sound like a pain in the ass,
but I tend to check and double check my tie-downs
every gas fill-up anyway. They will loosen up,
especially the first few miles, so I do a local trial
run and retighten all straps the day before I leave.
Hope this helps, and hope I didn't insult you if
it's info you are already aware of.....
