same symptom I had with my bike. Gen light did not go out when revved.
Took both gen and v regulator to an automotive starter/alternator shop for
testing. V Reg was bad. replaced and now going fine. I replaced with a
Ford unit. I can look up ser# if you want.
There is a small screw at the bottom of each fork leg. I think facing down.
Keep looking.
