The Indian Enfields are made directly from the 1955 Royal Enfields from Britain. Since then they have made some improvements to them. The British made Enfields of the 50's were of no better quality. The last of the Enfields were typical of British manufactured bikes - poorly made compared to Guzzi or BMW.

Sure would be nice if they came out with a remake of the late
Interceptor twin. I was a great bike VEry SMooth running and the sound
it made was fantastic. I hear if you buy a new Bullet, take it apart and
carefully reassemble they aren't half bad. (If you can make a Guzzi or a
Beemer haul you around reliably these can't be that much worse :-) ! )
I do see them calling them Royal Enfields now I think Jim was
referring to the Brit bikes quite a difference in quality.

Hey Gary, YEah, I want one or two myself. Of course only the design is British, but they did finally get the right to use ROYAL Enfield, instead of just Enfield. So now they are legally "Royal Enfields". ----- Original Message ----- From: Gary Cheek Sent: Sunday, November 04, 2001 8:12 AM To: Loopfram-@topica.com Subject: RE: T-Shirt ============================================================ NO LINES. The India Enfields ain't "Royal"! Never owned an India Enfield but I was thinking about buying a one. If they make more valve noise than an iron rocker stand Guzzi they might even be safer !
