David, Thanks for all the great info, its just what I was looking for. One thing I don't understand though. Why do you have to use the Generator and not the alternator already on the motor? Scott |
I was not clear in my first message so here is version 1.1:
There are two ways to put the later motor in a loopframe, alternator and
generator:
If you want to retain the alternator and related electrics you must weld
new motor mounts on the frame. The friendly folks at Moto Guzzi
Classics can accomplish this while waiting for the expresso machine in
the new boutique area to bubble up the morning batch. Your competence
may vary...
I chose the generator route because I wanted to keep as much loopframe
stuff as possible. I changed the Tonti era timing cover for an Eldo one
to get the engine mounts in the right position. The Tonti era crank
nose is different and requires an adaptor from Teo Lamers so the
generator belt pulley will bolt up. The Teo Lamers part # is in
Guzziology which is where I got the idea.
Someone on the list just Convert-ed their loop which was a much more
difficult project.
