Keith,
My regulator just went on my 69 Ambo. I am trying to get another one in
there to see if she works but have to fix the starter first. I did pull the
broken regulato apart and cleaned it with fine emery, cleaned the points off
but still didn't work. Found out that by holding the points closed the
generator light finally went off. The points on mine simply would not stay
shut. Hopefully the other rgulator I have will work betrer. Will let you
know what I find out. Bob Hawkes

Mechanic had it rebuilt at a local Gen shop. He told me that the gen shop recommended that I also replace the regulator, based on what they had seen in the generator. From what I can recall from this board, isn't the Marelli regulator pretty solid? Thought I had also read that you can just take these suckers apart, clean them out real good, and they should be good to go. Is this correct? Or should I find a rebuilt regulator?
