Z man has a good point about the drag from driveline components.

I even doubt my ambo would spin more than 1 rev if I spun it.
I know the brakes dont drag
sorry, no idea about the leak
good luck
Pete

I finally got around to swapping out my bad shift shaft with the new
part... easy repair and well... I can shift now!

Anyhow, while I was making the repair, I noticed a couple of things:
1. My left cylinder appears to be slightly weeping oil just below the
exhaust header nut. The oil (very very slight amount) is running along
a cylinder fin towards the spark plug. As I was tracing (and cleaning)
its route... I decided to pull the plug. Looked pretty good... slight
oily residue though. What is this indicative of!??

could be a lot of things. could be nothing. is it gas or oil on the plug.
the oil below the exhaust nut would the head gasket OR the oil feed line
to
the head. I gave myself a scare when I only finger tightened the oil feed
bolt and then a couple moths later when I started the bike the first time,
I
had a mysterious oil leak...until I found the source.

Wipe the oil off and fire up the bike, see if you can spot where it
starts.

 2. While the bike was on the center stand I spun the rear wheel and
noticed a fairly significant amount of drag on it (yes it was in
neutral!... I double checked!). Is this normal?? (hard to define
"slight amount" without a way to really measure it... but if I give it a
good spin it only makes two or three revs.)

Remember you are not only spinning the wheel, but the transmission bits as

well, not to mention the brake may be skimming the drum, and lets not
forget
the final drive, shaft and u-joint.

 Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks,
