Hmm I didn't specify that this is a floorboard setup. The H/T shifter
doesn't have any splines. smooth pivot with a brass bushing, washer and
retainer bolt. the pivot seems to be worn so I am looking at (easiest) and
outside fix of soft washers (2 with a teflon washer in between?) or bearings
OR (more difficult) having a thicker bushing machined.

The shifter shaft has a black plastic collar on the opposite end from the splines. Cant tell if it acts as a bushing or as a way to hold sideways position. I dont have any position problem with it.
