Next set of questions: (1) As stated before, I'd like to use the main bearings and crankshaft from the chain engine in the gear drive case. Is there a need to ensure alignment of those bearings when they are installed in the case before I install the crankshaft? |
(2) Should line boring be considered? |
(3) Neither one of the 2 oil pumps are acceptable. Where can I find a replacement? |
I have a NOS one if your interested.
(4) Is the later design oil pump (with helical gears) a preferred design? |
the matching numbers, and that is a gear drive case, you must use gear drive
with that which will dictate the use of a gear drive oil pump, you cannot
use the Eldo oil pump as it is pinned to the case with 2 locator pins, the
gear drive is located in the case by a longer shaft on one of the gears that
goes in a matyching hole in the case.
One more note, I see a difference in the ribbing on the exterior of the 2 engine cases. |
go here to see the info and pics on the different engine cases
