My name is Kevin, from just outside Detroit, MI. I was refered to this site by a couple people @ the last part of the restoration of my 71 Ambassador. I've bought the bike in AZ in 97. There I was attending MMI. I didn't own a car and had a 94 Yamaha for a daily ride. I sold that bike with all it's dependablity, nice handling, low maintenace and power to own this Ambo. My pal back here in Mich. thought I was nuts."What?! your selling your bike for a ...what? What the hell is that? Why would you sell a 94 For something as old and wierd as that?" I believe those were his almost exact words. I sent him a photo of the bike after that. I guess it didn,t do it justice cause he still couldn't see the beauty of the bike that I fell in love with the minute I saw it. I guess to sum up this story, I had no idea of what I was getting myself into with the bike. Everything from shit breaking down tio the great people that surround Moto Guzzi. Since then I,ve had the privledge through the years of having to touch everything on that bike, from rear to front I've literally cleaned it, fixed it, made it, or just flat out replaced it. Hopefully, this full restration will set the bike straight for alot of years and miles. When people ask me about Moto Guzzi and about owning one, I tell them that the bikes are slow, clumsey (or maybe that's just me), and that they can get very expensive to fix. They then ask "why then?" To that I say " It maybe slow, but I'm not in a hurry, It maybe clumsey but that's why you got to know how to ride, and they maybe expensive sometimes, but other times you can fix the problem with something out of the junk drawer. I know we are a rare breed and somewhat "off" but I've never been one of the crowd anyways. So I,m Glad to be here and hope to learn, share stories, and teach andthing I might of picked up along the years. Kev |
