There was a beautiful eldo with a square frame motor at the Guzzi
nationals. I was talking to the owner and he said the major change was
using the eldo timing cover and tapping the top engine block bosses to
except the generator bracket. There was also an adapter he had to use on
the crank to except the generator pulley. I guess the problem in using an
alternator system is that the back of the front fender hits the Alt cover.
He also used the eldo transmission because of the mounting holes for the
battery tray. A friend of mine is building a custom eldo with a LeMans
motor. He wanted the alternator charging system on his, so to deal with
the fender issue he had custom upper and lower trees made and used the
originals for patterns except his new ones were 2 inches longer. This
extended the front end to clear the fender. If you would like me to email
you some photos of the square fin eldo let me know.
