Using the teflon tape is likely a good idea so long as the tape doesn't
disolve in the gas. Sounds to me like it doesn't so I'll be wrapping the
threads when I reinstall the taps.

I sealed my threads with a single wrap of teflon tape. I don't know if that
is a good idea or bad but they don't leak from the threads.
