Don
I had a leaker on my '71.
Taking apart is easy. a bench vise is handy to grip the body during
disassembly and re assembly. One tip I can pass on. Normally you should
replace the gasket. I have heard viton is a good material. I had no hole
cutting tools, so I tried this. Just turn the existing gasket upside down.
Visually they looked the same but apparently, the one side had worn out
from the rubbing action of the valve surface.
After reassembling, I had no leak.
I don't remember the gas line diameter, 1/4 inch I think. Bring your
petcock to the auto parts store and eyeball it.
Good luck
Pete

I figure if I can clean out that one this weekend, I will be OK until I can get a hold of another one to replace the leaker. So, are there any tips/suggestions for doing this? Also, I want to have some fuel lines on hand incase I need to replace any of those old hoses when I take it all apart. What should I use? I need something that is readily available, as I will be doing this on Wednesday. Thanks.
