Hey Ian,
When I was in the Navy, I found that a fire hose spanner, or wrench, works
perfectly on the nuts that have slots. You can get them cheap from anywhere
that supplys fire fighters, like:
www.galls.com
Galls has folding ones

Hi Keith, I went with the locking ones on my 70 Ambo but have the standard ones on |
69 Ambo. So far both have held fast. What I do is smear the threads with high temp Permatex sealant. Seems to work well. What I really need is a decent wrench that will fit the ring notches. I plan on making one but |
prefer to buy one if the price was reasonable. One problem I have had is that the header gets loose. The nut is tight but |
guess not tight enough so the header can move a bit. There is a long distance from the header to the muffler so I went with getting a set of |
header to frame brackets. I bought mine from MG Cycle for $12 each and I |
sure the other shops like MG Classics has them as well. Hope this helps...Ian
