Greetings Fellow Loopers,
Wanted to get y'alls thoughts on exhaust header locknuts. I have read
and heard about the problems the Loopframes had with the header pipes
vibrating the exhaust nuts loose, resulting in stripped cylinder head
threads. I have seen the locking nut assy at I think Harpers, $37
each!! OUCH!! I was going to bid on some sort of header pipe to frame
bracket that was just on e-bay, but I missed the boat, forgot about the
auction until 15 minutes after it ended. What are y'all doing with your
bikes? Does pretty much everyone have some sort of protection against
the header nut coming loose, and if so, what is the recommended device
to cure it (locking nut, header-to-frame bracket)? I have also heard of
people drilling a hole in a cylinder fin and screwing a chain to it and
the header nut. Should I worry about this or not?
Thanx,
Keith Ruff
