It's common problem on the Eldorado is the tensioner going bad. What's worse
is that it can shred into little pieces and get into the oiling system.

It's not a problem on the Ambassadors since they have timing gears and not
chains.
Sometimes the generator belt cover can be the problem. If it is not installed
properly or if the belt is getting too loose, it can periodically make
contact. Pull the belt cover off and look on the inside of it for black
powder. This would indicated that the belt is rubbing.

end we removed the timing cover and discovered it was the timing chain.
The tensioner had gone bad and the chain was slapping around at low rpms.

anyone xperienced this? bike [ambo] runs fine, but there is a light
mettallic tapping sound that comesngoes on an irregular basis- sounds like
topend, but nothing appears loose, or out of the ordinary.?????? tia,
