Thanks for the advice, Charles, but I did check those
things. THe fuel runs in to the carbs at a good clip,
gas cap open or closed, one or two petcocks open. I
cleaned the banjo screens and the in-line filters, and
did a thorough cleaning of the carbs. Perhaps there is
something in the fuel, I could add some dry gas...

Hi Michael, Sounds kind of like fuel starvation. There are "filters" on the petcocks inside the tank and the round "filters" behind the fuel banjos on the carbs. Have you checked both of these?
